Economic Sustainability

  • Building resource efficient homes and co-operation on some basic needs will reduce living costs to individual households.  Examples of this include district heating, rain water storage, reed bed sewage etc (details on the 'Environmental' page)
  • Providing shared facilities, workspaces and employment within the community will offer economic opportunities for residents as well as reducing commuting costs for those who are able to work full or part time from home.
  • Practical co-operation such as bulk purchasing and creating a small 'shop', car pooling and child care sharing offer real economic advantages.

The economics are tied into the social and environmental elements of the community, not incidental to them - in a nutshell
